Iwanna “Johanna” Andruchiw Lodynsky, 85, formerly of New Haven CT , died peacefully in her sleep in her daughter’s home in Concord , MA on Tuesday, December 15. She was the widow of Omelan Lodynsky, and daughter of the late Michael and Maria Olijnik Andruchiw.

     Mrs. Lodynsky was born July 7, 1924, in Zolocziw , Poland . She was a resident of New Haven and Westville from 1949 until 1999, when she moved to Cheshire , CT. In 2007 she moved to Bedford and then Concord , MA , to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

     Johanna is survived by her daughter, Lydia Lodynsky, of Concord , MA , and two sons, Jerry Lodynsky of Cheshire , CT and Walter Lodynsky of Madison CT. She leaves three grandchildren: Adam Lodynsky of Manhattan , NY , Andrew Lodynsky of Cheshire , CT , and Lauren Lodynsky of Killingworth , CT.

     Mrs. Lodynsky worked at the Culture Media Laboratory at Yale University’s Medical School until her retirement, and was a parishioner at St Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in New Haven, CT. Johanna was an avid walker and accomplished seamstress. She was also known for her outstanding tortes.

     Mrs. Lodynsky was cremated at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge , MA , on December 18^th. Church services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 29^th, at St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, 569 George St., New Haven, CT, followed by graveside service at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Westville, CT.

* Memorial contributions may be made to HealthyWeb, PO Box 307, Concord, MA, 01742, a dementia care-at-home organization.

* Contributions will be applied towards the production of "Dementia Care At Home" programs, partially funded by NIH and Healthcare Interactive, Inc., as well as towards Mrs. Lodynsky's accrued home care expenses. HealthyWeb has already completed one home-care training DVD in Ukrainian, and is currently working on Polish and Russian language DVDs as well. We thank you in advance for your support!
